A quick update – Little Orc Wars is running pretty decently on my Galaxy S3 Mini, and, well, if it can work on that, it can work anywhere!
Couple of small touch/movement fixes – and a bit of a brutal CPU-hogging hack – and then on to the iPhones 🙂

I’m not a huge fan of doing hardware (p)reviews without some code and possibly an application, but couldn’t help posting this. It’s called an EyeTribe – read more here – and it’s a pretty amazing piece of technology. Eye tracking is huge, and this Danish company seem to have it down…
…About a week away from Comicpalooza – not to mention the beta release date –Â and the little gnomes are furiously bashing away at their keyboards to polish Little Orc Wars into boulder-flavoured happiness!
Before you can drop boulders the same way Skrillex drops the bass, here are some screenshots of the first map…my apartment!
“I know that I barely know you, but would you like to throw some boulders around my apartment?”
While immersed in the mechanics and game elements of Little Orc Wars, it’s difficult to show new and exciting stuff. But, once in a while, there’s a beauty that I have to put up on SemiSorted: I splurged at the Unity Store and grabbed this gem to be set up as one of the LOW battle grounds.
Ermagerd, I’m excited to try it out – it’s a bit of work to integrate it – but do you remember the Rats maps from Counterstrike? The excitement is palpable!
ZAsteroids, it’s 3D asteroids, but with a twist! Try keep your Ion-Cannon satellite in working order while fending off waves of asteroids. It’s also completely free. I’ve added crepuscular rays, satellite upgrades, and tributes Elite and to the guys at the MIT SPHEREs project. Dan did a wicked job with the modelling and all the graphics. This post contains the download as well as the full codebase on Github! Feel free to pull and contribute 🙂
Here’s a movie of of the game elements:
If there is free time I’ll try polish it, but I’m more focused on Little Orc Wars at the moment, and possibly seeing if I can wrap the Oculus Rift DK2 into the game. The space scene would be fantastic in stereo, and that trumps game polish. But if there’s anyone out there that would like to help polish+balance it, or put it up on Xbox/Steam/etc., I’d really appreciate the help!
I was enjoying this so much I had to make another movie – Little Orc Wars now has follow cameras, time dilation, and collision physics for obstacles and units. Here’s a quick video of the new elements:
